How to create Cascade Authority within a Library Structure on the Power Systems servers running IBM i.
by administrator
Published : Apr 08 2009

The Power Systems servers requires a high level of security to the systems in order to maintain the integrity of the individual institutions using the servers.  In order to accomplish this several areas of security have been restricted to insure a stable multi-user environment.   One of the system values that has been addressed is QCRTAUT value which sets default public authority to the system and will allow cascade authority to newly created objects.  Since we cannot allow the use of any public authority on the system this value has been set to *EXCLUDE.

In order to allow cascade authority within newly created objects of a user on the system requires the use of an Authorization List applied to the library when created.  This will allow newly created objects to inherit authority as granted in the authorization list.

The steps in the attached document describe how to create and implement an authorization list for this purpose.
